S.W.O.L.E. School Program

The “S.W.O.L.E™” school program involves five days focused on teaching the five principles of “S.W.O.L.E™”. The acronym stands for: Self Respect, Work Hard, Overcome Adversity, Lead by Example and Excellence. With these principles we establish a student leadership team to champion positive school activities, build strong connections within the community, and assist other youth as they learn how to overcome their own personal challenges. Research states that targeting youth at risk supports the notion that the most important factors involved in motivating adolescent children to learn is engagement and a sense of self efficacy. (Jackson and Cooper, 2007)
The “S.W.O.L.E™” school program not only aims to help students build strong character attributes fostered by “S.W.O.L.E™” but also will help them begin to see themselves as young, contributing leaders in their school and in their community. There is a parent/guardian orientation night and a meet the teacher night that happens prior to programming days commencing to ensure clear communication is established and cooperation is encouraged throughout the program.
